Should we call on "GOD"?
SHOULD WE CALL ON GOD, AS CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS?
DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHICH GOD WE CALL UPON. AFTER ALL, GOD IS GOD RIGHT?
Well maybe not.
I have become convinced, after originally writing this post, that it is perfectly fine to use the name God.
This video cleared it up for me:
119 Ministries is recommended and has often proved a very useful resource.
With the above in mind, please continue reading.
And before you think I have gone completely off my rocker, why not take the time to read what wikipedia has to say about the word God:
I am well aware that some may want to stone me as a heretic for saying such things, but then again, many prophets were stoned for telling the truth. Nevertheless, I want to say from the start, that when I hear a song like OH LORD MY GOD, WHEN I IN AWESOME WONDER CONSIDER ALL THE WORKS THY HAND HAVE MADE....
Those words and that tune still move me, just as they are. I am aware of the awesome relationship with the true God that this writer had. I am also well aware of who it is written for and can still sing it to the glory of the true God, YHWH, who created heaven and earth. But if I were leading worship, today, knowing what I now know, I might consider changing the words to OH YAH MY EL ... . I would want it to be clear, which God I was leading people to be worshipping.
The title of the free Wix image above was and still is, I presume : HINDU GOD TATTOO
So one assumes that if you are Hindu and you want to worship GOD, you might like to add this tattoo to your body, right? (No, I am not in favour of Tattoos at all, but, Yah willing, that will be another post.)
The bible says: "God looks upon the heart". But which God is that, exactly? Do all of them answer, when we call on "God"? Now I have called on God, in a desperate hour of need and I believe trusting in the blood of my saviour, I believe my "God" answered, precisely because he does look upon the heart. However in the future, I would do things differently. Because truth matters to me and I want to be obedient to his word.
We need some background, so I am going to ask you to skim read from the encyclopoedia of authentic hinduism. Never thought, I would ever want anyone to do such a thing. But now I do. http://www.encyclopediaofauthentichinduism.org/articles/16_the_prime_origin.htm
Insidently if you share this link on something like whatsap, it will add this information:
Note who the Grace of God is about there! They say all roads lead to Jerursalem and it seems that that is exactly what the devil wants. A big happy family on its way to Armagedon!
So, hopefully from your skim read, you picked up that the word "GOD", is a very eclectic sort of word. It can refer to any God or god in the universe, like "Zeus", or "Pan" for example. This then means, depending on who you are, (Pan being the Devil), that Satan can also be the "God" that is being called upon! Moreover, from the article above: "Plural for Gott is Götter, and its feminine word is Göttin/Göttinen for goddess/goddesses." From a Hebraic point of view, however, there is only one masculine God. His name however, Jews (tribe of Judah mostly), no longer call on, for that is how they have been taught. Yet there are many who see themselves as Israelites today, who are now calling on the name of Yahweh or Yahuwah, or Yah, (the shortened form used in scripture for Yahweh, as found in Strong's and so on. )
THE ORIGIN OF "CALLING ON THE NAME"
This goes back a long way. After the birth of Seth's son Enosh, scripture teaches that "then people began to call upon the name of the Lord" (Genesis 4:26) But from my studies that word LORD, is better rendered at least YHWH. As I said above, this name is used over 1000 times in the scriptures, but was removed, some say around the 1st Century AD.
There is certainly evidence that it was in the ancient Hebrew scriptures.
Here is just one bit of evidence:
According to this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papyrus_Fouad_266 Fouad Inv.266, contains the the name of God in Hebrew: יהוה , on this fragment of Deuteronomy 31:28 - 32:7 and has been paleographically assigned to the 1st century BC.
Here is another fragment claim to including of the sacered name : https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/study-bible/appendix-c/divine-name-new-testament/
Why has the actual name of YHWH, been removed from the scriptures over a thousand times and yet few are interested in even a discussion on the subject. Are they afraid of something. Maybe losing their income generating congregation? Whatever happened to preaching the truth?
"Jesus" said, (lets not go into that name now): "If you continue in my word, you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free."
So, of course my interest is picked up, when I read something like this in a restored name version:
Exodus 3:15, And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, "Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Yahweh Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, hath sent Me unto you: this is My name for ever, and this is My memorial unto all generations."
Does it make any sense to use "Lord" in place of the real name above? And what when you also discover that Lord relates so strongly to Baal, you could actually use one for the other. It really makes me mad, when I read Baal's real name in the Bible, but YHWH has been obliterated. READ THIS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal
DO NAMES REALLY CHANGE?
Personally, I love the way the French say my name, Gerald. They make it sound so cool. Something like JERAAAALD. But you know, it is still Gerald, isn't it. And Honda is the same here as in Japanese, isn't it? I am not sure therefore how Yeshua or Yahshua got to Jesus?. Nevertheless, probably, like you, I grew up loving that name more than any other, because I knew He was the one who died on the cross in my place. Still I am not going to make anything a holy cow, if it isn't. Nor should we, right?
SO IF WE KNOW THE ONLY TRUE GOD'S NAME, WHY DO WE NOT USE IT?
As believers, who seek the truth, we need to start waking up. We have been spun a ton of lies and it is time we started really reading the word for ourselves and in doing so, we are going to discover that a lot is not being preached that should be. When you start delving into the Hebrew and even the Greek, you are also going to start discovering things that our English translations are able to confuse and we all know who the author of that is. Get a Strong's concordance on your phone, that is at least a start. Tekarta Bible App has a free one.
Here is an interesting article, that will certainly have you thinking out the box!
Finally, I did a Picabay ALL IMAGE SEARCH for "God". This is what I got:
Do you see YHWH here?
