Verse of the day 8 May 2020
A long stem of threatening thorns leads up to this deep rich radiant finish. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
I want o just focus on the bold aspects of this awesome passage of God's Word. What makes long suffering able to suffer long, is a certain knowledge that love will always triumph. This comes from a rock based conviction of faith in God, who is love, that He will never fail. How could He? Would he, who created the heavens and the earth have allowed himself to be subject to his own creation. Certainly one so wise, could never be so foolish. Love will have the last say and yield the greatest rewards. "For the joy set before him, He endured the cross": Thorns, humiliation, separation, merciless men, false judgement. Even being forsaken by the very focus of his life. In dying the ultimate death he bought for undeserving us, the ultimate future. Father, you revealed yourself most clearly in Yeshua our Saviour, whose love reached out to save the world. Thank you for saving us. Help us set our minds to seek you and follow in your footsteps, that we may carry your love within us, by faith and grace, to a dying world and mostly to each other. May we be formed in you and you be found in us, knowing, that if we endure to the end, your love will never fail us and you will enable us not to fail you.
